Since their history-making debut in 2012, unprecedented achievements have put FGL at the top of the genre and beyond. Representatives from the Academy of Country Music® were on-site at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA, for the tour closer on Saturday (9/28) to acknowledge the MULTI-PLATINUM duo as the first-ever recipients of the ACM Breakout Artist of the Decade Award, ACM Single of the Decade Award [“Cruise”], and ACM Music Event of the Decade Award [“Meant to Be” with Bebe Rexha]. The trophies mark three of seven new ACM Awards® honoring the most impactful projects and artists throughout the past decade.
ACM Interim Executive Director RAC Clark presented the honors during a backstage surprise with media, friends, and family capturing the moment. FGL’s Tyler Hubbard shared, “This is a special night for us. It’s been an incredible year, incredible tour – there’s been a family, a bond, and a brotherhood that’s happened out here, couldn’t imagine a better way to finish this tour out.”
FGL’s Brian Kelley echoed Hubbard, “RAC, ACMs, this is mind-blowing, these are three huge, massive honors. It really does mean a lot – it’s an amazing, humbling way to end this season of life and this tour.” He added, “We’re more inspired than ever. All these good things that keep happening, God’s just blessing us. We’re very proud, but more importantly, we’re just thankful for all the people that surround us that continue to lift us up and allow us to create – it’s the most fulfilling thing.”
Firing up their Las Vegas residency for an encore, FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS is back inside Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on November 6, 8, 9 and 12. General tickets may be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or in-person at the Planet Hollywood box office.
