Jensen Sussman, President and owner of Sweet Talk Publicity

As president of Nashville-based PR firm Sweet Talk Publicity, Jensen Sussman is one of the most sought-after and passionately dedicated public relations executives in the entertainment industry. With nearly 25 years of publicity experience, she’s helped foster the ascent of multi-platinum superstars like Kelsea Ballerini, Florida Georgia Line, Morgan Wallen, and Megan Moroney, frequently engineering the type of high-profile moments that turn rising artists into household names. Widely recognized for executing countless prominent national publicity campaigns, Sussman’s singular balance of strategic vision and limitless creativity has led to such milestones as being named a Nashville Power Player in Billboard, a behind-the-scenes star in Variety’s Music City Impact Report, and a Rising Woman on the Row in MusicRow, in addition to earning multiple nominations for Publicist of the Year from the CMA Touring Awards.

Originally from Los Angeles, Sussman first discovered her innate talent for publicity after graduating from Skidmore College with a degree in dance and moving to New York City, where she interviewed with makeup brand Tony & Tina for a cosmetics-counter position and instead received an offer to join the company as assistant to the creative director. Although she next took on a role as an associate account executive at leading beauty PR firm Tractenberg & Co. (an experience she credits with honing her exquisite attention to detail), Sussman ultimately felt compelled to continue her education and enrolled in the graduate program in nutrition at UNC Chapel Hill. Not long after earning her master’s degree, however, a breast cancer diagnosis and the subsequent year-and-a-half-long treatment prompted Sussman to once again rethink her career and life path, eventually deciding to pursue her deep-rooted love of music. Having relocated to Nashville (where her father worked in the music business), she soon connected with Alabama-bred Country group Little Big Town and landed a gig as publicist for the band’s upcoming tour. From there, Sussman served as associate director of publicity for Sony Music Nashville and Warner Music Nashville, with her clients including major artists like Miranda Lambert, Jessica Simpson, and many more.

Since launching Sweet Talk in 2008, Sussman has transformed the company into one of the industry’s most in-demand boutique PR firms. With her early triumphs including fueling the phenomenal breakout of a then-unknown Florida Georgia Line, Sweet Talk’s carefully curated roster now boasts some of the most celebrated names in Country (Dustin Lynch, Gabby Barrett, Trace Adkins, to name a few) and even extends to Alt-Rock legends Better Than Ezra, and Hip-Hop icon Missy Elliott. To that end, Sussman handled publicity for the latter artist’s massively anticipated debut headline run (2024’s OUT OF THIS WORLD — The Missy Elliott Experience), securing such illustrious media placements as a “Getting Ready with Vogue” feature and an interactive mood board on the New York Times website. Over the past two years, Sussman has also played an essential part in the stratospheric rise of Country “it” girl Megan Moroney, generating a barrage of highly coveted media coverage that includes a New York Times print feature and a spot on “Call Her Daddy” (one of the most-listened-to podcasts in the entire world).

An exceptionally engaged industry leader, Sussman is an active member of the Country Music Association (CMA), Academy of Country Music (ACM), and Nashville Chapter of the Recording Academy (NARAS). As she guides Sweet Talk through its next phase of extraordinary growth, Sussman remains focused on serving as a mentor to her team members and building a culture of collaboration, support, and truly shared success.
