KRISTIAN BUSH RELEASES CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED DEBUT SOLO ALBUM SOUTHERN GRAVITY ON STREAMSOUND RECORDS TODAY (4/7)
Platinum-selling country star and Streamsound recording artist Kristian Bush releases his debut solo album SOUTHERN GRAVITY today (4/7), a critically-acclaimed effort Country Weekly calls the "feel-good album of the year."
In an exclusive first interview with ROLLING STONE, Bush candidly shares the story behind the making SOUTHERN GRAVITY, a collection of 12 surprisingly joyous and inspirational tracks born out of tumultuous, even tragic, change in Kristian's personal and professional life.
"These songs are like post-it notes that you might put around your house as inspirational reminders," says Kristian. "I listen to them for that reason sometimes — to remind myself that no matter how hard it gets, you can make things out of the pieces that are smashed."
Produced by Bush alongside long-time friend and engineer Tom Tapley, and executive produced by Byron Gallimore, SOUTHERN GRAVITY is a testament to Kristian's gift for writing the sort of perfect country-pop hooks reflected in lead single and Top 20 hit "Trailer Hitch." The album has already won raves from Country Weekly, The Boston Globe, and The Sydney Morning Herald, who gave SOUTHERN GRAVITY 4 out of 4 stars, saying, "Kristian Bush makes writing good country music sound easy. Among this album of warm, guitar-filled country rock, his vocal delivery shines, an honest balance of drawl and clarity that sets the whole album at ease."
Bush is currently on the road with his headline PUT YOUR SOUL IN IT TOUR and will celebrate the album release tonight with fans at his sold-out show at Joe’s Bar in Chicago. On Wednesday, April 8th, he will make his second appearance at Wrigley Field to sing the 7th inning stretch for the Chicago Cubs, as well as throw out the first pitch.
Bush has been leaving his mark on music for more than two decades. The singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist started his career with folk-rock duo Billy Pilgrim in the early ‘90s, releasing a much-lauded pair of albums for Atlantic Records (self-titled debut and BLOOM). In 2004, he exploded onto the country music scene with Sugarland, surpassing sales of over 22 million albums worldwide, achieving five No. 1 singles and winning numerous awards, including GRAMMYs, AMAs, ACMs, CMT Music Awards and CMAs. To date, Bush has garnered six BMI Awards for his songwriting, and in 2011 he founded the music publishing company and songwriting collective Songs of the Architect, collaborating with Matt Nathanson, the dB’s, Martin Johnson of Boys Like Girls, Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale and more.
