MULTI-PLATINUM entertainer Trace Adkins is helping the United States Football League (USFL) kick off its first-ever postseason, performing live between games during the inaugural playoff double-header on June 25.
Bringing his own kind of hits to Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Adkins will take the field as a new generation of pro football begins. Game 1 of the USFL’s 2022 playoffs airs at 3 p.m. ET on FOX, with the larger-than-life Country star taking the field directly after it concludes. Playoff Game 2 will follow at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
“I’m really honored to be a part of this,” shares Adkins. “I’ve been watching the games this year, I’ve been thrilled with what I’ve seen… the rule changes that you guys have implemented, for me, it’s made everything more exciting. And I’m like why haven’t we been doing this forever? It’s just great. I’ve enjoyed every aspect of the game… I’m very proud to be associated with this inaugural season of the USFL.”
A lifelong football fan, Adkins continues to build on the acclaim of his 25th anniversary album, THE WAY I WANNA GO (Verge Records), which includes single “Where The County Girls At” (feat. Luke Bryan and Pitbull) and was hailed as a “creative tour de force” by Billboard. Following his SOLD-OUT return to Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on April 8, the Louisiana-born singer and actor has also released a fun-filled EP, HONKY TONK BADONKADONK: THE REMIXES, and is currently out on his headline THE WAY I WANNA GO TOUR, with dates scheduled through November. “The inaugural USFL playoffs is a big-time event and that calls for big-time talent, so we’re thrilled to have Country icon Trace Adkins playing live for our fans on June 25,” said Daryl Johnston, USFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations. “The USFL has been committed to family affordability all season, so we’re giving fans two exciting playoff games and a great live concert for the price of one ticket. It’s going to be an awesome day of football and music.”
The top two teams in each division will meet in the inaugural USFL playoffs on Saturday, June 25, with two games played that day at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.
