Starting out sweet before the hangover kicks in, "Strawberry Margarita Promises" finds Honey County's Dani Rose telling off a man who didn't mean what he said. "This hangover keeps on hanging around / I don't know why I keep sipping you down / You're cotton candy sweet and I can't help but drink," she sings, lamenting the fact that all she's left with after the object of her affections failed to back up his words with his actions are "strawberry margarita promises." The deceptively light and airy track was written by Rose with Patricia Conroy, Dan Fernandez and Sofie Thurston and co-produced by Fernandez and Maks Gabriel.
"This song is about a guy who made a lot of promises and said things that sounded great, but never followed through," Rose shares. "Like many other women and my friends, we want to believe and hope for the best, but we ultimately know better."
Rose has been introducing "Strawberry Margarita Promises" to fans at recent shows including a stop at the OC Fair in California on August 19, where Honey County opened for Country star Cole Swindell. On August 21, Rose sang the national anthem at the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game, a fitting moment after attending the 2022 ESPYS in July. On Sunday, September 11, Honey County will perform at Blended Festival in Nashville, TN, sharing the stage with The Chainsmokers, Sickick, BRELAND and more. On October 1, the band will play Fells Point Festival in Baltimore, MD. See Honey County's full list of tour dates and purchase tickets here.
"Strawberry Margarita Promises" follows Honey County's most recent release, "Got It From My Mama," which is continuing to do major numbers on social media. The mom-celebrating song has over 822 MILLION views and over 686K videos created on TikTok and peaked at #2 on the US TikTok Charts.
