Multi-talent Charles Esten surprised fans on CBS’ THE TALK (2/16) with the live announce of his new song, “One Good Move,” that’s now available for pre-save/pre-add and releasing March 3. More than 10 years after arriving in Nashville, TN, the heartfelt romantic rocker sets the tone for the artist-songwriter’s next chapter with his forthcoming independent debut album.
Co-written by Esten with Sam Bacicoff, Zarni deVette, and Elise Hayes, “One Good Move” is a reflective power ballad with a soul-baring story, describing a misspent youth that paid off in the end with “one good move.” Dedicated to his college sweetheart and wife of 31 years, Patty, the transformative track produced by Marshall Altman puts Esten’s smoldering vocal in the spotlight, backing it with a powerful rhythm section, dreamy guitars, and a poignant piano to capture a life-changing true love. All told, it’s an expertly crafted balance of Country heart and Rock sophistication, and it points toward things to come.
Widely known for his role as “Deacon Claybourne” on the ABC/CMT’s Nashville, Esten has fully dedicated himself to writing and performing in the real-life Music City. He’s made more than 155 appearances at the Grand Ole Opry and headlined multiple tours of the U.S. and Europe, while also garnering more than 10 MILLION career streams and becoming a 2018 Guinness World Records title holder for the “Most consecutive weeks to release an original digital single by a music act,” after delivering 54 original songs once a week for 54 straight weeks.
With his artistry spanning mediums and styles, the global entertainer is currently making headlines as “Ward Cameron” on Netflix’s buzzed-about Outer Banks. Appearing at the Los Angeles, CA, red carpet premiere of Season 3 at the landmark Regency Village Theatre (2/16), Esten spoke with Entertainment Tonight, PEOPLE, and more, before a special viewing of the first episode with his fellow cast and an exclusive group of fans. Check out his selfie with the Outer Banks Season 3 cast and showrunners here. Continuing the high-profile celebration into the weekend, he headed to Poguelandia (2/18), a free, first-ever immersive music and fan experience in Huntington Beach. Thousands of fans were welcomed into the world of Outer Banks with interactive cast pop-ups in transported set locations from the show and music performances by Khalid, Lil Baby, and alt-J, among others. The following day (2/19), Esten joined select cast members for a beach cleanup in Santa Monica with the nonprofit environmental organization Surfrider Foundation. Rounding out the festivities, he jetted to Sun Valley, ID, yesterday (2/20), for an Outer Banks viewing and Q&A panel during the Sun Valley Film Festival. Season 3 of Outer Banks premieres this Thursday (2/23) on Netflix.
