Trading lines in the song's verses and chorus, Honey County lead singer Dani Rose and Chiquis tribute their moms with personal details including Rose pointing out her freckles and her tendency to get the last word, while Chiquis highlights her emotional strength. "Lo mejor que hay en mi / I got it from my mama," they declare.
Blending their voices in soaring harmony, Rose and Chiquis sing in both English and Spanish as they honor their own moms and moms everywhere over uplifting and buoyant production. "Got It From My Mama" was written by Rose, Maks Gabriel, Kalie Shorr, Hillary Reynolds and Sofie Lynn, with Chiquis putting her own personal stamp on the lyrics of "Got It From My Mama (Lo Tengo De Mi Mama)" with Marger Sealey. The bilingual version was produced by Honey County, Maks Gabriel, John Spiker, Richard Bull and Ulises Lozano "El Licenciado."
"I’ve always loved listening to Chiquis' music, and never in my wildest dreams did I think we’d be collaborating together," Rose shares. "It’s been so fun to sing with her in the studio, and her producers, Richard Bull and Ulises Lozano El Licenciado, were wonderful to work with. They brought out a new vocal warmth to the song that makes this bilingual version of ‘Got It From My Mama’ extra special, not to mention being able to honor both of our mothers by paying tribute to them. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!"
"I am beyond excited and honored to be a part of such a beautiful and meaningful song," Chiquis adds. "'Got It From My Mama' touched my heart when I first heard it, and I knew I had to get involved. I can't explain how much this means to me, and I can't wait for everyone to hear it and sing it — but most of all, feel it!"
