COUNTRY ROCKERS SOUTHALL RELEASE RAW AND EXPLOSIVE SELF-TITLED ALBUM

After a whole summer of slow-burning sizzle, Smoklahoma Records band Southall have just thrown gas on the fire beneath their fast-rising career, releasing their raw and explosive self-titled album SOUTHALL today (9/22).

Featuring 11 tracks co-penned exclusively by the six-piece group – making an exception for “One Day At A Time”, written by three out of the six plus Ben Mckenzie – SOUTHALL pulls on stylistic threads from hard charging ‘70s Rock and gritty Southern Soul to grooving back-alley Blues and beyond. The set was produced by hitmaker Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Brandi Carlile, Cody Jinks), and finds a power group planting their sonic flag.

One of the most fearlessly diverse bands on the road, front man Read Southall’s dynamic vocal leads a tough-nosed mix of screaming distortion, tender nostalgia and guitar-driven general badass-ery, as Southall sends a roundhouse kick of new school Country-Rock out into the world.

Along with the album release, Southall has also dropped the needle on their new focus track, “All I Have.” A rootsy Alt-Rock throwback featuring chugging guitars, driving drums, heady melodies and a piano interlude, the tune is a tribute to knowing yourself and finding peace in giving your best, with Garden & Gun hailing its arrival in an exclusive premiere.

“One of the lines in that song that really speaks to me is, ‘If you take it, please just take it for what it is,’” band member Reid Barber shared with Garden & Gun. “We knew our name change was going to ruffle feathers, especially among fans who’ve been listening to us since the beginning. But we’re doing our best to sound like us, and if it sounds like us and makes us excited, this is what we want to be doing.”

Southall’s full length album follows a series of attention-grabbing early releases, including the road-weary romantic rocker “When You’re Around,” the soul-searching psychedelic anthem “By Surprise” and the swampy juke-joint dancer “Scared Money. The band now boasts more than 415 MILLION total streams and 1.29 MILLION cumulative monthly listeners, as a whole new era of rebellious swagger unfolds.

The headlining group just kicked off the SOUTHALL WORLD TOUR on September 15 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, embarking on a 43-date trek across the U.S. and Europe which culminates in London, U.K., on February 23. Find tickets and a full list of tour dates here.

Formerly known as Read Southall Band, the GOLD-certified group (“Why”) has three albums behind them and has spent the last few years building a rabid grassroots following on the road. After touring the U.K. and Europe with Blackberry Smoke in early 2023, they’ve spent much of this year winning over crowds with Whiskey Myers and Chase Rice, and are now in the thick of an epic breakout.
