ALANA SPRINGSTEEN GOES COASTAL FOR THE HOLIDAY WITH “christmas comes in waves”

Today (11/10), Columbia Records/Sony Music Nashville artist-songwriter Alana Springsteen dives headfirst into the merriest season with “christmas comes in waves” – a brand-new release that puts a beachy twist on the classic holiday song. Accompanied by the Anna Clary and David Bradley-directed clip capturing Sandbridge Beach near her hometown, “christmas comes in waves” pays tribute to the Virginia Beach, VA, native’s favorite place to be. Available across all streaming platforms and digital retailers, listen here.

“Having grown up on the coast, all my favorite holidays were spent with family by the water. I’m a beach baby through and through and I can’t think of a more restful, festive way to spend Christmas than in the sand,” shares Springsteen. “I’ve been wanting to write an original Christmas song for a long time and finally made it happen with Trannie Anderson and Dallas Wilson. This one’s for everyone who feels a little more at home when they’re somewhere warm this time of year.”

Fully dedicated to realizing her sun-soaked vision, Springsteen took a hands-on role in virtually every aspect of the creative process behind “christmas comes in waves.” Along with producing the song herself (with co-production by Austin Stanley), she played acoustic guitar, ukulele, and hi-strung guitar on the track, rounding out its unfussy yet lush arrangement. Written by SpringsteenTrannie Anderson, and Dallas Wilson, “christmas comes in waves” further finds the Nashville, TN-based artist trading snowflakes for seashells, and singing the praises of a beachside yuletide. Strumming a carefree rhythm, Springsteen narrates her ideal holiday scenario with a dreamy specificity: “Watching string lights in a palm tree sway / Singing cold weather carols / In tank tops and sandals / Rocking round the dock of the bay.” With a chorus melody sweet and breezy enough to melt away the winter blues, the result is a blissed-out tropical vacation in the form of a song.

Arriving just weeks after TWENTY SOMETHING (DELUXE) – the extended version of her critically acclaimed full-length debut – “christmas comes in waves” is the latest turn in a blockbuster year for Springsteen. A groundbreaking and high-concept album made up of three themed installments – Messing It UpFiguring It Out, and Getting It Right – TWENTY SOMETHING is an intimate yet deeply resonant document of the nonstop emotional rollercoaster of life in your 20s. In keeping with her uncompromising artistry, the 22-year-old musician co-wrote all 18 songs on the album, co-produced nearly every track, and played guitar and piano throughout. Released late last month, TWENTY SOMETHING (DELUXE) delivered three freshly added songs, including an all-new soul-baring stunner called “just a house.”

Marking another international milestone last week when she made a debut stop in Australia for back-to-back music festival dates, Springsteen continues THE TWENTY SOMETHING TOUR – her first U.S. headlining run – next week, including several upcoming sold-out dates. Fans can find full details for the 15-date tour here.
