KRISTIAN BUSH DEBUTS LOVE-STRUCK MUSIC VIDEO FOR “LIGHT ME UP” EXCLUSIVELY ON CMT PURE TODAY (9/1)
GRAMMY Award-winning Streamsound recording artist Kristian Bush will debut his love-struck music video for the infectious single “Light Me Up” on CMT Pure and KristianBush.CMT.com today (9/1). Following the exclusive debut, the video will also be available on iTunes and VEVO. Watch the video here.
Filmed in the historic Ocean Way Nashville recording studio and on the streets in Ann Arbor, MI, and Nashville, TN, the music video for “Light Me Up” features real-life couples expressing their love. Produced by the brother and sister team Cy Abdelnour and Maria Abdelnour alongside Nashville-based filmmakers Dace and Mohr, the video lines up Bush’s live, full-band performance with vignettes of couples interacting.
The anthemic love song was co-written by Bush and Jesse Rice (“Cruise") and shows a different side of the multi-faceted artist.
"'Light Me Up’ is about what it’s like, as a man, to be loved by a woman,” Bush explained to People. “You can’t unlearn it. You can’t go back and forget it. This love changes us forever, and I wanted the song and the video to celebrate what that feels like.”
Named by ETOnline as “begging to be a first dance wedding staple,” the easy-to-embrace love song has warmed the hearts of media critics and fans. “Light Me Up” has already been spotlighted as a favorite track on APPLE MUSIC, PEOPLE and BILLBOARD.COM.
Opening up to ROLLING STONE COUNTRY in a previous interview about the hopeful tune, Bush’s own personal message remains strong. “I still believe in love,” he says. “I’m not one of those people who gives up on it, and I think that’s the right message.”
“Light Me Up” is the follow-up to Bush’s Top 20 hit “Trailer Hitch,” and both songs are featured on his critically-acclaimed debut solo album SOUTHERN GRAVITY.
This coming week, Bush will be the focus of Cumulus Media’s first-ever NASH TV Films’ documentary. Walk Tall: The Journey of Sugarland's Kristian Bush airs early September in 80 markets nationwide in partnership with Sinclair Broadcast Group. Bush has been leaving his mark on music for more than two decades. The singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist started his career with folk-rock duo Billy Pilgrim in the early ‘90s; in 2004, he exploded onto the country music scene with Sugarland, surpassing sales of over 22 million albums worldwide, achieving five No. 1 singles and winning numerous awards, including GRAMMYs, AMAs, ACMs, CMT Music Awards and CMAs. To date, he has garnered six BMI Awards for his songwriting, and in 2011 he founded the music publishing company and songwriting collective Songs of the Architect. Recent collaborations include Laura Bell Bundy, Larkin Poe, Dan Tyminski, Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale and more. Bush is currently serving as a celebrity ambassador for Goodwill Industries International, with “Trailer Hitch” featured as the centerpiece of their #GiveItAway campaign.
