SOPHIA SCOTT PUCKERS UP FOR VALENTINE’S DAY WITH BRAND-NEW VIDEO “HOW TO KISS”

Today, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Sophia Scott kickstarts this year’s Valentine’s party with her brand-new video for “How to Kiss” — a sharp-tongued but fun-loving cut from her critically praised debut album BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS (EMPIRE). Filmed on the bleachers at her high school in Boulder, Colorado — the very spot where Scott herself learned how to kiss — the fierce and flirtatious visual marks the latest installment of her ‘Barstool Confessions: On Super8’ — a recently launched series adding a whole new dimension to the album’s deeply autobiographical storytelling. Watch “How to Kiss” here now

Directed by CeCe Dawson (who’s created all the visuals in the ‘Barstool Confessions: On Super8’ series), the video for “How to Kiss” opens on a sunlit shot of Scott reading the newspaper as she settles back on the bleachers. All glammed-up in a gorgeous white suit and red heels, Scott imbues her performance with plenty of playful attitude as she shares her story of observing an ex’s new relationship from afar (from the chorus: “She may not thank me now, but she's gon' thank mе later/For that naughty, oh-my-god bedroom behavior/So whеn he pulls her in, hands up on her hips/She's still gonna taste me on his lips/'Cause I taught him how to kiss”). As she struts along the edges of the football field — with the majestic Colorado mountains looming in the background — Scott blows kisses at the camera and fully inhabits the track’s irresistible mix of tongue-in-cheek humor and heart-on-sleeve emotion.

As Scott revealed in an exclusive track-by-track for American Songwriter, “How to Kiss” came to life as she reflected on an all-too-common after-effect of a relationship’s end. “It’s inevitable that after you break up with someone, the next person they date is going to get a better version of them,” she said. A glorious showcase for the emotional complexity of her songwriting, the uptempo and dance-ready anthem channels a rush of raw feeling even as Scott tosses out fantastically scathing one-liners (e.g., “I bet he's giving her the best of me/'Cause I gave him all the recipes”).

Entirely shot in Scott’s beloved hometown, the ‘Barstool Confessions: On Super8’ series kicked off with “What I’m Wearing Tonight” (filmed at a friend’s vintage clothing store) and also includes “Mullet Over” (a black-and-white stunner that takes a cheeky swing at a hotshot with a mullet), “City Limits” (a dazzling and emotionally charged clip capturing the beauty of Colorado magic hour), “You Problem” (in which Scott dances through her obsession blissfully alone in a house), and more. Check them all out here.

Named a Pandora Artist To Watch 2024: Country, Scott is set to make her debut at C2C: Country to Country, Europe’s biggest Country music festival. Kicking off March 8, Scott will perform three must-see sets in London on the following festival stages: Pepsi presents the Big Entrance StageThe Wayside, and The Barrelhouse At Town Square Presented by CountryLine. During her stint in London, she’ll also serve as support for Restless Road’s headlining show on March 11 at Lafayette

Known for a magnetic live show that instantly creates an intimate connection with the crowd, Scott’s upcoming live dates also include supporting Cooper Alan on February 16 at The Grizzly Rose in Denver.

ABOUT SOPHIA SCOTT:
Based in Nashville but raised in Colorado, Sophia Scott has blazed her own bold trail to Country stardom. With a rare gift for raw yet exquisitely detailed storytelling — and a one-of-a-kind sound infused with elements of Southern Rock, Pop, R&B, and Soul — the singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist has amassed over 114 MILLION career streams and drawn nearly ONE MILLION monthly listeners to date. Growing up in Boulder, she took up piano and guitar as a child and soon started composing songs of her own, then further developed her unforgettably candid songwriting voice upon kicking off her music career in Los Angeles. During her six years in L.A., Scott found early success with singles like 2018’s “White Fence” and 2019’s “Drink Too Much Wine” (both featured on coveted playlists like Spotify’s New Music Friday), but ultimately relocated to Nashville and immersed herself in sharpening her craft. A breakthrough year for Scott, 2021 brought such triumphs as opening for the Jonas Brothers, landing on an artists-to-watch list from People, and inking her record deal with EMPIRE Nashville. The fast-rising artist maintained that momentum throughout 2022, when she delivered her widely acclaimed debut EP One Of These Days — a six-song project that earned praise from American SongwriterE! NewsEntertainment Tonight, and CMT (who stated that “Nashville newcomer Sophia Scott proves she has a bright future ahead in the genre”) and explored such complex subjects as watching her loved ones struggle with addiction (on the fan-favorite “Side Effects”). Along with signing a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music and Ross Golan’s Unknown Music Publishing in 2022, Scott celebrated the release of her debut album BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS (EMPIRE), which has already received nods of approval from the likes of CMTTaste of CountryHoller and MusicRow's DISClaimer, with her bucket list debut on the Grand Ole Opry in October 2023.
