RANDY ROGERS SURPRISE-RELEASES NEW SINGLE, “OLD HAT”

Seven years after recording it for The Next Waltz Vol. 1 at producer Bruce Robison’s all-analog Austin studio, The Bunker, and 15 years following Ben Kweller first unveiling it on his 2009 LP, Changing Horses, Texas country legend Randy Rogers has at last issued a wide release of the single “Old Hat.” A stunning, mournful take on Kweller’s seminal cut, Rogers brings his trademark Texas-bred flair to the already-legendary track. Rogers’ version of “Old Hat” is now available on all DSPs.

The new single arrives on the heels of Rogers’ latest installment of his Hold My Beer EP series along with fellow Texas icon Wade BowenHold My Beer, Vol. 4. The six-track EP arrived last Friday (7/12), just in time for Rogers and Bowen to hit the road on their HOLD MY BEER TOUR, kicking off earlier this week in College Station (7/17) with stops in Lubbock, Fort Worth, Houston, Corpus Christi, and Round Rock before wrapping in New Braunfels on July 27.

Meanwhile, Rogers will spend the summer paying tribute to 20 years of Randy Rogers Band acclaimed sophomore album ROLLERCOASTER

Singer-songwriter Randy Rogers fronts Randy Rogers Band, featuring Geoffrey Hill (guitar), Jon Richardson pka Johnny Chops (bass guitar), Brady Black (fiddle), Les Lawless (drums), and Todd Stewart (guitar, fiddle, mandolin, keyboards). Founded in San Marcos, Texas, the group has spent the last 20+ years bringing the Texas Country tradition to dedicated fans around the nation and beyond. With nine studio albums behind them, global streaming numbers in the hundreds of millions and a reputation for must-see Country-Rock performances, the band has charted seven singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, five Top 10 albums on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and numerous Texas Country Radio chart No. 1s, securing its place in the pantheon of Texas musical giants. Following their 2019 album HELLBENT (produced by Grammy-winner Dave Cobb), 2022's HOMECOMING received critical acclaim and brought the band back to where it all started with their original producer Radney Foster, culminating in a project that nods to the past with its roots planted firmly in the present. American Songwriter hails “[HOMECOMING] shines a light on where they’ve been and how far they’ve come,” while Hook & Barrel give nods of approval to “[t]hat classic sound, brawny and melodic,” apparent throughout. The group’s sophomore album – also produced by Foster – ROLLERCOASTER turns 20 this year, starting a schedule full of anniversary celebrations as the band dives headfirst into 2024. In addition to fronting the iconic band, Rogers' artistry also includes work with Jerry Jeff Walker, Alison Krauss, Radney Foster, Willie Nelson and the mystery duo called The Stryker Brothers, which was revealed to be Randy and mentor, Robert Earl Keen. Rogers and Bowen's latest Hold My Beer, Vol. 4 EP is the latest in their series of hit Hold My Beer projects.
