Co-written by Scott, Mags Duval (Teddy Swims, Alana Springsteen), Luke Niccoli (Gwen Stefani, Keith Urban), and Micah Premnath (Lady A, Ben Platt), “Buy A Round” opens with a bit of thrilling scene-setting that immediately pulls you deep into her world (“If I don't pick up the phone/Chances are I’m getting stoned/And only thing that I got on is Patsy Cline”). With equal parts soulful confidence and devil-may-care attitude, Scott turns up the swagger and fully lets loose at the track’s fiery chorus (“Dancing on the table/Horse is out the stable/Reputation ’bout to go south…Casanova coming over wants to know what I'm about/The way I’m feeling now/I might just let him buy a round and find out”).
Produced by Niccoli, “Buy A Round” matches Scott’s seductive storytelling with a guitar-heavy sound fueled by pulse-pounding drumbeats and hard-strutting grooves. Driven by a particularly powerful vocal performance from Scott, the song builds to a blazing intensity at the bridge, when her spoken-word delivery gives way to a gloriously raw guitar solo.
