On December 31, Sony Music Nashville/Columbia Records singer/songwriter Megan Moroney will wrap up a knockout year by taking the stage at “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2025,” airing live on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. EST. Fresh off her dazzling debut performance at the Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), the MULTI-PLATINUM Country sensation is closing out 2024 on top, with her blockbuster sophomore album Am I Okay? landing on best-of-the-year lists from many of music’s biggest outlets.
On the heels of winning New Artist of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards, Moroney will head to Times Square to perform as part of the star-studded New York lineup for “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” the nation’s most-watched New Year’s Eve celebration. With her fellow performers including Carrie Underwood, Teddy Swims, Thomas Rhett, and more, she’ll deliver a two-song medley of tracks from Am I Okay? — a massively acclaimed LP that marked the year’s third-biggest Billboard 200 debut from a female Country artist and debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. Co-hosted by Seacrest and Rita Ora, “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” will be available for streaming via Hulu on January 1.
Released in July and later followed by its chart-topping deluxe edition Am I Okay? (I’ll Be Fine), Moroney’s second full-length recently appeared on coveted lists like Rolling Stone’s “100 Best Albums of 2024.” Also featured on year-end round-ups from the likes of American Songwriter, Us Weekly, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Am I Okay? turned up on the “Best Country Music Albums of 2024” list from Holler (who declared that “[e]verybody’s favourite Georgia Girl has ascended to her throne as the newest country queen”) and the “10 Best Country Albums of 2024” list from Taste of Country (“Cutting one-liners, turns of phrase and elegantly veiled insults are all specialties of Moroney’s, and Am I Okay? continued to prove her status as one of the genre’s very best traditional songwriters in a pop-country package”). In addition, “No Caller ID,” Am I Okay?'s highly acclaimed debut track, was tacked onto Hollywood Reporter's “The 10 Best Songs of 2024” (“The song is about moving on from a dusty ex... Moroney’s brilliant songwriting and cool vocal delivery capture the feeling perfectly”). Also dubbed as “Country music’s new guard of female artists,” Moroney is currently featured as COWGIRL Magazine’s cover star for their January/February 2025 issue.
As she caps off an incredible year that’s also included touring stadiums all over the U.S. as support for Kenny Chesney, Moroney thrilled audiences across the country last Thursday (12/12) with her spellbinding performance at the BBMAs, where she reigned as a finalist in the Top Country Female Artist category. Presented by Carnival Cruise Line and set along the riverfront in the heart of downtown Nashville, Moroney’s BBMA debut found her delivering a hip-shaking rendition of “Man on the Moon” — a fun and fiery standout from Am I Okay?, hailed by Variety as a Rolling Stones-esque rocker. In a stunning departure from Am I Okay?’s signature blue, Moroney donned a custom two-piece Victoria’s Secret ensemble in blazing-hot red with matching sparkly David Koma boots. “I wanted to be dressed as a human red flag — like the guy in the song I’m performing,” she told Cosmopolitan in a pre-show interview.
