TEGAN MARIE ROCKS THE HIGH SEAS ON DISNEY CRUISE
Fresh faced Country phenom TEGAN MARIE has just returned from a special voyage onboard the majestic Disney Dream cruise ship, making waves as her journey toward superstardom continues.
Partnering once again with longtime supporters Radio Disney, Tegan Marie took the ship’s stage as part of the network’s popular #FriYayLive show – a multi-platform livestream that featured other young stars and influencers – delivering a jaw dropping performance of her sunny debut song, “Keep It Lit.” She then returned for a magical sunset solo performance of the new track, “I Know How To Make A Boy Cry,” captivating the ship’s upper deck as dusk fell over deep blue waters.
Along the way, she took to social media while meeting Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse and the cast of Beauty and the Beast, riding the AquaDuck waterslide, watching a spectacular fireworks display and making friends with stingrays on Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, all while inspiring young cruisers to pursue their dreams.
Already drawing big-time acclaim from critical taste makers, Rolling Stone has called Tegan Marie “a potential pop-country wunderkind,” while Huffington Post thinks she’s “primed to be country music’s first Gen-Z star” and Billboard has praised her “infectious sound.”
The Michigan native has had the support of Radio Disney and Radio Disney Country from the very beginning of her career. Since then, her videos began gathering millions of views on Sweety High’sonline community for young girls and she performed on the Radio Disney Country stage at the 2016 and 2017 CMA Music Festivals. Tegan Marie was also a presenter at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards.
“Tegan is just a thousand-watt light bulb in a dark room,” Vice President of music strategy for Disney Channels Worldwide and General Manger of the Radio Disney Network Phil Guerini tells the Detroit Free Press (January 2017). “When you look for ‘it,’ the definition is Tegan, and that’s what we’re always looking for. Her vocal talent, her charisma, her presence, is well beyond her years.”
Tegan Marie’s upbeat song “Keep It Lit” was released in January, and its official video has already gathered over three million views (and counting) on YouTube. The rising star recently visited New York City for a series of high-profile appearances, including on NBC’s TODAY, at The Studio at Opry City Stage in Times Square and on top of the Empire State Building to film an acoustic video for “Keep It Lit.” She is currently working with producer Scott Hendricks (Blake Shelton) and writing with Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift) on her first album for Warner Music Nashville.
