TEGAN MARIE’S EMPOWERING “I KNOW HOW TO MAKE A BOY CRY” VIDEO MAKES ITS BROADCAST PREMIERE EXCLUSIVELY ON CMT TOMORROW (6/29)
Warner Music Nashville and Sweety High Country sensation TEGAN MARIE is set to premiere the empowering, Elvis-inspired video for her new song, “I Know How To Make A Boy Cry,” across CMT, the 24/7 digital music channel CMT Music and CMT.comtomorrow (6/29).
In conjunction with the exclusive broadcast premiere, the video will be available across multiple media platforms.
Directed by Veronica Zelle, the liberating video serves as a tip of the hat to Elvis Presley’s iconic 1968 Comeback Special, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Set to the sound of her upbeat self-worth anthem – all about inner strength and holding your head high when young love turns sour – 14-year-old Tegan Marie flips the script on an artist who famously made girls weep everywhere he went. Now it’s her turn to make the boys cry.
“I just love Elvis, that’s about the size of it,” says Tegan Marie. "I recently visited Graceland and it all just clicked. I got to understand him more, beyond the music. I was most moved by how much he cared for people. When my managers suggested we make a video as an homage to Elvis for my new song, it was an automatic yes!"
“I Know How To Make A Boy Cry” was produced by studio heavyweights Scott Hendricks (Blake Shelton) and Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift) – marking the first time the Platinum-selling pair have teamed up. Tegan Marie will keep working with the duo as she creates her first album.
Last Saturday (6/23), Tegan Marie showed off another aspect of her undeniable stage presence, taking part in the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards with Mason Ramsey to present the award for The Freshest! - Radio Disney Country Best New Artist.
Tegan Marie then wowed fans of the MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers with a flawless rendition of the national anthem before Tuesday night’s (6/26) game versus the Chicago Cubs. And looking ahead, the Michigan native will continue her busy performance schedule with her eighth Grand Ole Opry appearance on Saturday (6/30), plus a summer full of shows from Colorado to Connecticut on her first nationwide tour.
