TEGAN MARIE THRILLS FLINT, MICHIGAN, IN HOMECOMING CONCERT
Warner Music Nashville and Sweety High Country phenom TEGAN MARIE has come a long way in the last year – from online sensation to the youngest female major label Country artist in 45 years. But on Thursday (8/16), the rising star was enthusiastically welcomed back by her hometown of Flint, Michigan.
Taking over Flint’s Genesee Valley Center, the 14-year-old singer thrilled friends and fans alike in her first-ever homecoming concert, another major milestone in her burgeoning career. The special event was part of her debut nationwide tour, and Tegan Marie’s stage-owning performance once again highlighted her larger-than-life personality and killer vocals with effervescent songs like “I Know How To Make A Boy Cry,” “Keep It Lit” and more.
Her hometown has always been an enormous early supporter of Tegan Marie since she was discovered by the Gen-Z girls’ media platform Sweety High at the tender age of 7 years old, and even her high school got in on the fun for her first Flint show. Students and faculty celebrated by throwing a kid-friendly tailgate party with pizza and poster-making before the show, then lined up afterwards to take photos and get the hometown hero's autograph. The momentous occasion followed Tegan Marie’s hugely-received show at the Iowa State Fair earlier this week (8/14).
A handful of dates remain on Tegan Marie’s first major tour, including stops in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Here’s a complete list:
September 8 – Freehold, NJ @ iPlay America’s Event Center
September 9 – Dallas, PA @ Luzerne County Fairgrounds
September 27 – Hartford, CT @ Infinity Music Hall
September 28 – Topsfield, MA @ Topsfield Fairgrounds
Continuing to gain momentum as her young career heats up, the homecoming show arrived just as Tegan Marie’s empowering video for “I Know How To Make A Boy Cry” surpassed 1.5 million views on YouTube. With a nod to one of her greatest musical heroes – Elvis Presley and his legendary 1968 Comeback Special – the uniquely fun video flips the script on an iconic artist who famously made all the girls weep. Watch the official “I Know How To Make A Boy Cry” video here.
Tegan Marie has reached new heights in 2018, earning praise from tastemakers like Billboard, Rolling Stone, Huffington Post and more, and even delivering a notable performance from the top of the Empire State Building. She is currently hard at work creating new music with hitmakers Scott Hendricks (Blake Shelton) and Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift).
